What can I say but WOW! The trip was absolutely amazing. I was able to reconnect with people that I had met at World Burn Congress in 2015, I also met several new faces and friends from the event. I had signed up to volunteer and that was so rewarding in and of itself. I enjoyed getting to be a friendly face greeting people as they walked into the room and getting to point people to the right place if they were lost.
The Congress wrapped up with a formal meal and dance. I was initially a little apprehensive about going because I don’t usually do formal, but I put on my best suite and tie, enjoyed dinner with some lovely new friends and then the last two hours I danced the night away. The connections that took place here, I do believe could last a lifetime. In 2027 the Phoenix Society is hosting in Grand Rapids, Michigan and I look forward to trying to join them at that event as well.
